Your submission can be video, music, poetry, creative writing piece, interpretive dance, a speech a project, the choice is yours. Though we do encourage you to create something specifically for this application, we do accept existing work as long as it is yours. Theme
This year's theme is "Adapting to Change." We are leaving the interpretation of this year's theme open for the applicant to choose how they want to put it on display. But, we acknowledge that sometimes it can more difficult to create something without having clear direction so we decided to provide some examples submissions.
We would like to make it clear that these are for example purposes and you do not have to do anything like what is listed below.
  • Reflection: A Personal Narrative
    • Illustrate, explain, or reflect on a time in which you had to adapt to change in your life. Also tell us why that experience was so impactful or important. What did you learn from it?
  • Imagination - something of your own creation: A short story
    • A story following a woolly mammoth who finds itself fleeing to the northern regions after a mysterious “flaming mountain” fell out of the sky.
  • Observation - evaluating a time you saw someone/something adapt to change: A Video/Presentation
    • In solidarity with Black Lives Matter movements across the nation, NFL players began using their platform to speak up against racial inequities in America. The most prominent method was kneeling throughout the National Anthem prior to football games. Since then the pressure from players for the NFL to be a voice of social justice has grown. How has the NFL adapted to this relatively newfound change in pressure from its players? How has it been received by fans?
  • Opinion - your opinion on a change or an adaptation to change: Painting/Artistic Interpretation
    • If you had a choice between a power of ultimate preparedness or a supernatural ability to adapt to change, which would you choose? Personify the differences. Why is that one more important/advantageous to you?
