About Us.

The Future Of Us was founded in Kansas City, Missouri by three Ruskin High School graduates. Each of whom went on to graduate college where they identified a disparity in the amount of collegiate opportunities and support for students from more affluent communities than their own.

Established in 2020

The Future of Us became established just two months after the idea was initially conceived. We're driven by our passion to give back to the communities we identify most closely with.

Our Goal

We want to strengthen the financial and structural support network in communities lacking collegiate influence. We invest in students by offering finances, time, guidance, leadership, support and encouragement for their academic goals.

"Opportunities are not equal and access is not unbiased. There are students who are a good support system away from actualizing their dreams. We look to help students in underfunded communities overcome their systematic predisposition to failure by changing expectation, encouraging, and investing into their future. Rather than using test scores and class rankings as ways to disproportionately distribute collegiate funding we use interviews and outreach to evaluate our candidates. We invest in merits not metrics."

"I was blessed to be the first person in my family to attend a 4-year university. As with anything you do for the first time, you're bound to make mistakes. I made a lot my first year of college and there were times when I felt like I wouldn’t make it. I was able to persevere and strive through it but not everyone has that same success story. The Future of Us is not just a scholarship fund to me but also mentorship. My passion comes from being able to help students make that hard transition from high school to college. Then, setting a solid foundation for them to succeed during their collegiate years. Going through college isn’t easy and everyone is going to make their share of mistakes. As COO of The Future of Us, my goal is to ensure that every student will be prepared for the challenges that college can present."
